Last year, Reid Hatley won this championship, held on the Rope Rider course at Suncadia Resort. It was the second title for Hatley, having also won in 2016, and it led to him being named the 2018 WSGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year.

Hatley is in the field again this year, attempting to defend his title. Earlier this month, Hatley won the Washington Men's Amateur and earlier this summer, he won Oregon Open Invitational, competing against the region’s PGA professionals.

Among the other contenders in the strong full field of 120 players is Jacob Koppenberg of Bellingham, Wash. Last week he was the qualifying co-medalist for the U.S. Mid-Amateur, the second year in a row he has been medalist. In July, Koppenberg made it to the semifinals of the PNGA Men’s Amateur.

To be eligible, contestants must by 25 years of age or older by August 28, 2019. Competitors must have an active GHIN number and USGA Handicap Index issued by a WSGA member club not exceeding 9.9 at the time of entry.

Follow the WSGA on Twitter @theWSGA to stay connected to the championship on social media.

The first tee time in the first round on Wednesday, August 28 is 7:30 a.m.

Founded in 1922, the WSGA is a 501c4 non-profit, amateur golf association governed by men and women volunteers. Serving nearly 70,000 individual members at more than 550 member golf clubs and 270 golf courses throughout the state of Washington and Northern Idaho, the WSGA works to continually expand the game of golf to people of all backgrounds.

The WSGA also serves as a statewide representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and works closely with a number of allied associations within the golf industry for the betterment of the game.
