Two teams tied after first round in 63rd Men’s Best-Ball; Larson and Crimp lead at 26th Senior Men’s Best-Ball
The duos of Tom Brandes of Bellevue and Erik Hanson of Kirkland, and Erik Olson of Seattle and Ben Garrett of Issaquah each combined to shoot 5-under-par 67 to sit tied atop the leaderboard in the 63rd Washington State Men’s Best-Ball Championship, giving them a 1-shot lead going into tomorrow’s final round of the championship. In all, 13 teams are within five shots of the lead.
In the 26th Senior Men’s Best-Ball, Craig Larson of Tacoma and partner Keith Crimp of Ellensburg teamed for a 6-under 66 to take the lead. There are seven teams within two shots of the lead. And in the Super Senior flight, Gudmund Lindbjerg and John Gallacher, both of B.C., lead with a 6-under 66.
Both championships are being held concurrently at Canterwood Golf and Country Club in Gig Harbor, Wash.
Under mild but damp weather conditions, 13 out of 36 teams in the Men’s Best-Ball broke par, while 12 teams in the 34-team Senior Men’s field broke par. Rain is expected overnight tonight, which will further soften the course for tomorrow’s final round.
