Hanson takes early lead at Washington State Men’s Mid-Amateur



Erik Hanson (Kirkland, Wash.) shot 4-under-par 68 to take the first round lead at the 10th Washington State Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, being held this week at Mill Creek (Wash.) Country Club.

Hanson has a one-stroke lead over Justin Haines (Seattle). Of the 120 players in the full field, only six competitors managed to break par on the par-72 layout, which has a slope rating of 138 for this championship.

In tomorrow’s final round, Hanson will tee off in the final group at 1:30pm.

The defending champion, Reid Hatley (Hayden Lake, Idaho), shot 2-over-par 74 in today’s first round, and is currently tied for 13th.

The 36-hole stroke-play championship is being conducted by the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA).

To be eligible, contestants must by 25 years of age or older by August 28, 2019. Competitors must have an active GHIN number and USGA Handicap Index issued by a WSGA member club not exceeding 9.9 at the time of entry.
